The Malaysian Trumpet Snail (Melanoides tuberculata) is a highly practical freshwater snail valued for its role as part of the aquarium clean-up crew. Recognisable by its long, conical shell, this nocturnal species spends much of the day burrowed in the substrate, surfacing at night to feed.

Their natural behaviour helps aerate the substrate, preventing anaerobic pockets and improving root health for live plants. They are excellent scavengers, consuming leftover food, algae, and detritus — making them an invaluable addition to both community and shrimp tanks.
